One of the most typical and picturesque holiday farms in the green hills of Umbria is located in Vernazzano, a town situated in a beautiful area surrounded by hills, woods, vineyards and fields.
La Casa Colonica is a typical Umbria mansion from ‘800s, that has been renovated maintaining its original features. In fact, wherever you wander to in this country house, you will find materials that are evocative of long-lost times, just as if time itself has stopped. Both the flooring and the supporting structure of walls and floors are made of sandstone and terracotta.
The hipped roof still features interlocked monk and nun tiles, with an aged look. The oak wood windows and the original beams remind us of the ancient origins of this countryside mansion.
We couldn’t call it a real farmhouse if it didn’t have an external area, that in our case extends for 4.000 sqm. The most part of it is occupied by the park and the swimming pools, one for adults and one for children.
La Casa Colonica features also a 100% functioning farm, where we raise farm animals and grow seasonal produce. This farm was built in 1856 as well, and still keeps the typical features of the place.
In addition, our guests can visit the area where we keep our horses, donkeys, ponies and little goats.
Remember that it’s possible to make your stay unforgettable, by going on a horseback riding trail.
Something else that you can’t underestimate is the possibility of tasting our locally grown and produced products, such as jams, oil, Tuscan and Umbria wines…all prepared with the utmost care and dedication.
La Casa Colonica is not only located in a peaceful and relaxing place, but is also immersed in an ancient historical setting. In fact, the village of Vernazzano was initially home to the Etruscans. Then, later on, it was inhabited by fishermen and woodcutters.
This small village became famous in June 217 B.C., when Hannibal defeated the Roman army led by Gaius Flaminius Nepos at the Battle of Trasimeno.
When you enter La Casa Colonica, you will be completely surrounded by a familiar atmosphere. This is due to the attention to details, and above all to the love and dedication that the whole personnel puts in the countryhouse. Stefania, the owner, is extremely nice and kind, and will make you feel at home.
The only thing you have to do here is to forget your problems and anxieties!
La Casa Colonica has nine apartments each one with a private entry. The apartments are all furnished in rustic style, with great attention to details. Cotto tiles and exposed beams are a must have in the apartments, which have all the same style, even if each one has been designed with a unique look.
When staying at La Casa Colonica, you will feel welcome and at home. Privacy and quiet are the magic words that allow us to offer our guests the best service ever, together with a truly relaxing experience.
The apartments offer every comfort you can think of, such as independent heating, kitchenware, bed sheets and towels, satellite TV and an external area that only guests can use, with a table, chairs and a swimming pool sunbed. Outdoors, near the swimming pool, we have a brick barbecue that our guests can use for every occasion.
We also have some common areas that our guests can avail of during the whole day. Among these, we have a laundry room with an iron and an ironing board, the reception where you can use the phone and Internet, and a big recreation room with a coffee bar and a kitchen.

Il Ciclamino is located in the annexe next to the swimming pool, on the ground floor. The apartment has a large sitting room with a sofa bed and a fireplace, a kitchen corner, a bathroom with a shower, and a large and elegant bedroom with a king bed and a third single bed.
The apartment can host up to 5 guests (3in the bedroom +2 on the sofa bed).
The overall floor area is 48 sqm.
La Violetta is located in the annexe close to the swimming pool, on the first floor. The access is through a large external stone staircase that leads to a balcony, which can be used only by the guests of La Violetta. The apartment has a large combined living/dining/kitchen area, a fireplace, a sofa, a bathroom with a shower.
A hallway leads to the bedroom area that comprises a bedroom with a king bed and another bedroom with two single beds.
The apartment can host up to 4 guests.
The overall floor area is 54 sqm.
La Ginestra is a two-storey apartment. The front door entrance, through the outdoor garden, leads you to the living/dining area with a kitchen corner. The wooden spiral staircase leads to the first floor, where there is a sitting room with a sofa bed, a bedroom with a king bed and a bathroom with a shower.
The apartment can host up to 4 guests (2+2).
The overall floor area is 40 sqm.
La Margherita is a two-storey apartment. There are two separate entrances on the ground floor, and a front garden. The large living area comprises two rooms separated by a beautiful brick arch. One of the two rooms has a masonry kitchen covered in tiles with a wood fired oven and a dishwasher, the other one is a sitting room and has a sofa bed. A wooden staircase leads to the first floor where there are two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other one with two single beds, and a bathroom with a shower lined with mosaic tiles.
The apartment can host up to 6 guests (4+2).
The overall floor area is 58 sqm.
La Rosa is on the first floor. The access is through an external staircase.
The apartment has a kitchen corner, a sofa and a stone fireplace. The bedroom area comprises one bedroom with a king bed and a single bed, and one bathroom with a shower. A lovely outdoor balcony is a nice addition to the apartment.
